Created by legendary artist Fletcher Hanks, Fantomah first appeared in Jungle Comics #2 from Fiction House. Often considered the first comic book superheroine with supernatural powers, Fantomah protected the African jungle from ruthless poachers, greedy treasure hunters, corrupt explorers, and other evildoers. Although she appeared as a beautiful blonde woman, she could transform into a terrifying blue skull-faced spirit, unleashing incredible mystical powers to punish those who threatened nature and its inhabitants.
Unlike traditional masked heroes, Fantomah wielded magic capable of controlling the elements, transforming objects, and delivering imaginative supernatural justice. Her surreal adventures and unforgettable artwork made her one of the most unique and influential characters of the Golden Age of Comics.
